Do I Need an Agent?

This course assumes that you do not have an agent, and that you are trying to secure a record deal on their own. Some of the record companies do not speak directly with you and requires you to have representation for them to entertain any possibility of cooperation with you. The record companies, we will filter out our list of contacts. One of the most important sentences are to be sought: “We do not accept unsolicited material.”

The next step for obtaining a record deal is the record companies who are currently signing artists of similar genres or identify sell the same. A simple Internet search will yield far more hope than you ever record companies to approach in a lifetime. Sun Whittle down the list. Research the company to find out what the artists have signed it, and what kind of music they specialize in. If you are a rap artist, contact with a company that carries pretty much the only country artist would be a waste of both yours and their time. Be choosy at this point.
